Wonderful travel themes for your holiday

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to decide where to go on your holiday. It’s not easy to decide when you have countless destinations crowding your must-visit list. So the best thing is to figure out what kind of holiday you are looking for. Weather is an important consideration while planning your holiday travel. So make sure it’s not hurricane season when you are out on a cruise.

If you like beaches, Hawaii and the Caribbean are easy choices. The Bahamas, Maldives, Mauritius, Australia and Thailand too have superb beaches with fine sand and scenic backdrops. Places like Bali and Goa allow you to experience culture along with sunbathing on the beach.

For the more adventurous, there’s trekking and mountain climbing in the Himalayas, whitewater rafting in Colorado, safaris in Africa, diving in the Red Sea, skiing in the Swiss Alps and bunjie jumping into a ravine in New Zealand.

Forts, palaces, cathedrals, temples and museums are for those who like to visit historic places. From world capitals like Rome, Paris and London, to Angkor Wat in Cambodia and Machu Picchu in Peru, there’s no dearth of places to visit and explore.

There are some ‘local’ hot spots for those living in North America too, that offer spectacular scenery and experiences. Ski resorts, cave spelunking, hiking the Rocky Mountains, camping in the forests, and the wonders of Yellowstone and Glacier Parks.

Romantics and honeymooners generally prefer quieter places and luxurious resorts. Cruises on skippered yachts in Alaska or Greece, spa resorts like Mii Amo in Arizona, private islands with exclusive resorts like Kamalame Cay in the Bahamas and grand palaces like the Lake Palace in Udaipur are just some of the options you can choose from. Secluded log cabins with self-catering facilities at nature reserves are another favourite with those who like a little more privacy.

But if you like to live it up and experience the nightlife, nothing beats cities like New York, Berlin and Madrid. They are simply teeming with fine dining restaurants, happening night clubs, funky jazz bars and posh theatres. So there’s never a dull moment even after the sun goes down.

Christmas is a special time for families and they often decide to spend Christmas at ski resorts. Europe, Canada and America have some top slopes for a great skiing holiday. There are, of course, infinite destinations for every kind of holiday. So decide where you want to go, when you want to go and then take off.
