Today the default kitchen that is in almost every home, apartment, condo or town house is the fitted kitchen design. This design was cheaper on the home builder and thus it lowered the price of the house for the families. Materials that could be built in mass production and then piece together saved the consumer millions of dollars over the years.
Although all fitted kitchens will have the same general elements this doesn’t mean that all kitchens are the same. The materials that can be selected allow for some customization. Luxury fitted kitchens, contemporary fitted kitchens, or country fitted kitchens are just some of the themes that are possible through the options available.
Cabinets come in a variety of materials and colors. Some are wood with mold accents while others can be made of a sleek veneer that can be painted any color you want. For a more modern look the homeowner could install stainless steel cabinets or they could go for a classic look with white cabinets with an elegant trim. Some cabinets even come with glass windows so that anyone can see what is inside them without having to open the cabinet door.
Counter tops are also just as numerous in the available materials or colors that you can choose from. There are marble, tile, and laminate counter tops just to name a few. The materials that are chosen will be based on the homeowner’s needs and budget. Marble counters are very durable but also very expensive while laminate counters are more economically priced but can chip easily.
Fitted kitchens are an evolution in the design of the kitchen that utilizes the available area to get more work space and storage for the cook. Today the innovations with this design are still being pushed with the advent of the “green” movement and our need to build a self sustaining home that uses less energy and more recycled materials.
