The Martin guitar company is known around the world for its quality instruments, which are played by some of the most successful guitarists. Martin was founded by C. F. Martin in 1833, in America. Martin guitars have introduced a variety of innovations into the guitar manufacturing process, including the widespread use of X-bracing, which paved the way for the development of steel string acoustic guitars later one.

Although the company has produced electric guitars, it specialises in the production of steel string acoustics, which are known around the world for their quality and value. Martin’s range includes a wide variety of acoustic guitars, which are sold at a variety of price points. They are not really a producer of ‘budget’ guitars, but there are some models which aren’t too expensive, so even if you don’t have a huge budget, you may still be able to enjoy playing on a Martin. One popular model is the Martin D35 which is a dreadnought model that is a favourite with many well-known guitarists, including Johnny Cash.

Martin is also well known for its travel instruments – the Martin Backpacker guitar range. These are rather odd-looking guitars, with normal sized necks but very small bodies in a curved triangular shape. This reduced body size makes the Backpacker easy to carry when travelling, and as the name suggests, it is small enough to carry on your back quite easily. The Backpacker is available in steel string acoustic, nylon string acoustic and electric models, and there are also a left-handed versions too, so whatever type of music you like playing, you’ll find one to suit.

All in all, Martin guitars are well worth checking out if you love playing the guitar and are looking for a high quality acoustic instrument which both sounds, plays and looks great.
