If you have an odd shaped yard or don’t have an automatic watering system in place, then you need to resort to alternative methods to keep your grass green. Nobody likes to drag a heavy hose around and hand-water the entire yard, especially on a hot day. The obvious solution for many, is a stationary sprinkler unit that connects to the hose. The problem with those systems is that users have to constantly re-adjust the unit every 15 minutes or so, dodging rogue water streams as they approach. An innovative product by John Deere solves all these problems plus some.
John Deere’s Traveling Sprinkler is a handy device that travels around your yard, watering as it goes. The unit is modeled after a real John Deere tractor in a classic green color with yellow wheels. The tractor allows users to set a pre-defined path for the tractor to follow and water. The tractor is designed to follow the path of a garden hose placed on the ground. You can place the hose in any pattern you like, including curves. The sprinkler pulls the hose along with it, following the path to the end where it hits a shut-off ramp and turns of the water.
The tractor can pull up to 200 feet of hose and cover an impressive 13500 feet of area. The spray arm on the top spins around during operation. Users can easily adjust the power of the spray, covering anywhere from 15 feet to 55 feet in diameter area. When it reaches the end of the path, the tractor hits a shut-off ramp which cuts off the valve and stops the water flow. The tractor is made from heavy duty cast iron. It is a heavy, durable workhorse ready to water your lawn for years to come.
