How To Go About Popping Pimples

When painful pimples start to rear their ugly heads, it is very hard not to squeeze them. Although popping pimples may be a quick way to get rid of the unsightly spots and the discomfort, it may leave permanent scars if done incorrectly.

Most people suggest that you let the bump heal by itself. Those are probably not the same people who have to walk around with huge zits for all to see. Those in the know realize that piling on makeup makes them even more obvious. Some people think that pimple popping may actually help to speed up the healing process. Do exercise caution though and only use this technique when the zits are truly ready. Only pop them when there is a white head. It is also a good time to pop them after a warm bath or shower, when the pores have been opened up and the skin surface is soft and supple.

The first step you have to do before you pop zits, is wash your hands properly. Make sure you wash under your nails as well. Your nails and fingers will not be touching the skin, but just in case they do, they should be clean. Wash the skin with an anti-bacterial cleanser and gently exfoliate around the site of the pimple.

Disinfect a basic needle with rubbing alcohol. The needle should be sharp. Then gently prick the surface of the zit.

Wrap your index fingers in tissues or put on disposable gloves and gently squeeze the pimple. Do not force it, as it will pop when it is ready. If blood or clear liquid comes out, you should stop. Continuing to squeeze, may lead to scarring. Deep or painful nodules and cysts should be left untouched. A dermatologist will administer a cortisone injection to reduce swelling which may also help to prevent scarring.
