Sir Christopher Codrington arrived on the Island in 1684 where he implemented a large scale sugarcane industry that flourished for over 50 years. The island still hosts remnants of the cane processing wind mill towers in and about the island. The African heritage of the island began with slaves brought for work in the sugarcane fields.

In 1784 Horatio Nelson a British Naval officer came and built the British naval facilities now known as Nelson’s Dockyard. In 1834 the British abolished slavery in Antigua. In 1967 Antigua became a member of the commonwealth and then in 1981 claimed itself as an independent state.

Today Nelson’s dockyard has been refurbished and is known as Nelson’s Dockyard National Park. It is host to thousands of sailing ships and yachts some of which are serviced and built right in the harbor. Quite a site of old historic landmarks, old refurbished and the new advanced technical ships. The observation peak of this old naval base Shirley Heights boasts a magnificent view which on a clear day include the neighboring islands of Montserrat and Gaudaloupe. On Sunday evenings Shirley Heights is transformed into a cultural celebration with steel bands playing and a Caribbean barbeque.

The capital city of St. John’s also hosts the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda which houses some of the ancient artifacts from the early sugarcane industry, the Naval settlements and the bat of one of Antigua’s greatest cricket players.

So those not just seeking the best beaches in the Caribbean but a bit of history, will find there is much to explore on the island of Antigua.

You shouldn’t worry about parking, it’s for free. You can also get free admission if you visit on the first Monday of October. During this month you can get a free children ticket when you buy an adult admission.

Balboa Park

Balboa Park provides a perfect setting for a family day or a romantic date. With every building’s Spanish architecture, you’ll find it very enjoyable to spend time here. You can lie in one of the 8 beautiful gardens, or visit any of the 16 museums.

Many beaches

We could never leave out going to a beach in San Diego. There’s good weather for the most part of the year, so here are some beaches you should check out: Pacific Beach, Coronado Beach, Imperial Beach. If you’d like to visit a beach with a roller coaster there’s Mission Beach. We recommend that you visit La Jolla Cove. It’a beautiful small beach that stands out because it’s one of the most photographed in Southern California.

The Parks – London is actually one of the greenest cities in the world and has many great parks to choose from. For a more aesthetically pleasing park try Regents park with it’s pretty gardens and quaint boating lake. For a fun day out why not head to Hyde park? This is a great area for meeting up with friends for a picnic or just throwing about a frisbee.

That’s due primarily to the annoying fact that for the majority of us, there is no such thing as a “quiet mind.” We’re either processing sensory inputs – describing, correlating, processing, and judging what we see, feel, taste, and hear – or generating a continuous stream of mental noise. That noise generally takes the form of snippets of imaginary conversations, which actually have tremendous impact on our mood, our outlook, and ultimately on our behavior and habits.

If we believe that we are well-equipped to overcome challenges, master difficult new skills, and move beyond major obstacles toward our goals, we tend to generally exhibit behaviors that support this belief. Those positive behaviors, in turn, generate consistently positive results. When we approach life from the perspective that our consistent efforts are worthwhile and productive, we’re happy to keep performing the small, daily duties that inevitably lead to success.

If, on the other hand, our internal dialogue tends to be defeatist and negative, we generally quit performing the success-producing behaviors, or start to go about them with such negative energy that they become ineffective. This starts a negative spiral that results in an even worse attitude, which in turn generates even worse performance.

The best way to avoid this cycle is to change the quality and content of your thinking, and changing this kind of thinking is a very effective way to gain self confidence.  The easiest way to permanently replace those negative thoughts is to learn how to do guided meditation, usually with a narrated guided imagery script. Over time, adopting just a few positive beginner mantras for meditation can produce life-altering results.

Haad Rin is made up of a town full of guest houses, restaurants, bars and shops. It is a totally commercial area – nothing remains of the old fisherman’s homes or the traditional economic activity of cultivating coconuts. If you want the old Koh Phangan you have to go to places like Chaloklum.

There are two main beaches in Haad Rin – Haad Rin Nok the sunrise beach facing east and Haad Rin Nai the sunset beach facing west. Of the two beaches, Haad Rin Nok where the Full Moon Party is held is by far the best beach. The sand is better, swimming is better and it is a longer beach. Haad Rin Nok is a beautiful white sand beach, but it is a party beach and all that that implies. If you are looking for a party atmosphere and lots of activity, all on a beautiful white sand beach, this is the spot for you. If you are looking for a beach holiday like those found at Aya Napa or Majorca, then Haad Rin will seem like heaven to you. The sun is hot, the sea is warm, the prices are cheap and the nightlife goes on until the following day every day.

There are both cheap places and more luxurious places to stay in Haad Rin. You can choose from inexpensive bungalows or air conditioned hotel rooms. There is nothing resembling 5 star accommodations in Haad Rin but you can find them at Thong Nai Pan Noi or the neighboring island of Koh Samui.

Haad Rin in Koh Phangan are not meant to be quiet sunbathing beaches for relaxing, but they are great for spending your visits partying and playing on the beach all night.

Once you have done your research and your marine surveyor has presented you with his report, you are then in a position to make the decision to proceed or not with the bidding process and attempt to buy the boat. If everything is ‘go’ at this point, be certain you know your limits making bids, and do not let yourself get drawn into a biddeing frenzy that goes beyond what you have established as your limit.
