Essential Equipment for Carp Fishing
In Europe there are thousands of people than spend hundred of hours every year Carp fishing. Carp fishing is most popular in Europe and the rest of the world don’t really seem to have caught on to this angling phenomenon. Unlike game fishing carp are not eaten, the sole purpose of carp fishing is to catch the biggest fish (or a specified fish in a water), weigh it and then pop it back in the water so that if can live on to be caught another day. Carp can live for up to 40 years so it is important that they are well looked after.
For the people that go off in pursuit of these fish every weaken there are certain pieces of equipment that will make their fishing trip more comfortable and therefore more enjoyable. This article takes a look at just two of these pieces of kit:
A Fishing Chair
Unlike match fishing where there is a lot of movement where you hopefully catch hundreds of fish during a 6 hour match, carp fishing is much more sedate. If you were to catch two carp in 6 hours then this would be considered and exceptional success. Therefore because the carp angler does not move around very much a decent fishing chair is very important to them. Specialist fishing chairs are very comfortable – they have thick foam padding, legs that can be individually adjusted and a back angle that can be tweaked to suit your preferred position.
A Fishing Bag
Again referring back to match angler – many match angers will sit on their fishing box, but because this isn’t an option for carp anglers there is no point in taking a bulky tackle box with them. A fishing bag is a far better choice of kit because it is lighter, easier to carry and can fit far more tackle in it. The beauty of a bag is that if you have emptied the contents you can fold the bag up to preserve space – this is very important if you are staying in a bivvy for a week or two.
