Don’t Be a Victim of EBay Fraud!

EBay fraud is thankfully not overly common, but it does exist. While the majority of members on the site are just looking to make a few extra dollars, there are those that are there to scam people. Not all of them get away with it, but even if you were to get scammed and you did get your money back eventually – wouldn’t it be better to have just avoided it in the first place?

Luckily there are a few things that you can do to ensure that you have the lowest chance possible of falling for a scam. One of these things is to check the person’s feedback. Whether you are buying or selling an item, you can still fall victim to fraud. A person’s feedback will tell you just how reliable they are. You should always be wary of sellers and buyers who have no feedback at all. You should also be wary of those who have a lot of feedback from just one or two other accounts.

Another tip to avoid fraud is to pay attention to the postage costs. Many sellers make their profits by charging outrageous postage costs. Look at as many listings as you can for the item that you are looking for. That way you will get a good idea of what the average shipping charge is. If there is a seller offering the same item for a much higher postage cost than most other sellers then obviously you should avoid them.

Finally the third tip to avoid fraud on EBay is to read the item description thoroughly. Does it sound too good to be true? If a product does sound too good then the chances are it probably is. Again, take a look at the feedback and see who else has bought the product and what they have said. Try to look for feedback that says the product works rather than how fast it was delivered. Are there any repeat customers? Bad grammar and spelling in a listing is also a slight giveaway.

If you keep the above tips in mind, you should be able to avoid most EBay criminal fraud schemes.
