RSSCubic Zirconia Explained
A lot of folks know of cubic zirconia rings or cz rings, whilst many people do not really understand what cubic zirconia is. Cubic zirconia is literally the crystal form of zirconium dioxide. It’s not glass but an actual rock. It is not the same thing as zircon a naturally occuring rock. Zircon can be very beautiful and in some cases mistakenly identified as cubic zirconium.
Cubic zirconia isn’t expensive to produce, is amazingly resilient and appears a lot like expensive diamonds. Yet another rival to true diamonds is a second synthetic substance referred to as moissanite. However cubic zirconia is still probably the most well-liked diamond substitute.
Cubic zirconia rings are available in a selection of colourings influenced by the materials included during the synthetic process of developing the stone. Cerium will make yellow, orange and red. Chromium will make green cubic zirconia. Neodymium produces purple cz that is very pretty. Erbium makes pink which is also known as Pink Ice. Titanium makes a golden color.
Lately the designers of cubic zirconia rings have been trying to improve or identify CZ even more. An added coating to the cubic zirconia though gets rid of the extra fire which makes it look extra just like a diamond. Also because of the diamond particles inside the diamond covering, a cubic zirconia ring will in fact show up positive for diamond under the typical jewelry store diamond testing machine.
Yet another method used for making cubic zirconia different, would be to put a small layer of metal oxide on the cubic zirconium stones. These cubic zirconium rings are called Mystic. Regardless this effect is not permanent and wear and tear will remove the finish.
It would be great for consumers to have full disclosure with these rings so they know that they are buying a man made substance and not a rock that was created by nature.
