Vaser liposuction is a sound based body contouring procedure that is becoming quite popular, especially in the US and Europe. While there are debates on whether vaser is superior to traditional tumescent lipo, there is no doubt that it has its own set of advantages. If you would like to know more about this technique, here are answers to some more commonly asked questions.
How vaser lipo works
Vaser liposuction is done in a suitably fitted theater and is typically performed under local anesthesia. Once the individual is prepared, a small probe is inserted to provide low-level ultrasound vibrations to break up the fatty deposits (hence its other name of ultrasound liposuction). Afterwords, a suction device is used to remove the fat which has been broken down by the ultrasound technology. This entire treatment takes under an hour, depending on the extent of the surgery. It is also a less aggressive approach than some of the other conventional liposuction procedures, as the majority of the excess fat is removed using a specifically designed cannula, and any residue liquid fat gets naturally excreted by the body.
Recovering from vaser lipo
Healing from any liposuction procedures is a painful process and vaser is no different. In the course of the first few weeks following the liposuction, the majority of patients will feel various degrees of soreness, irritation, puffiness and short lived numbness. Pain medications can lessen the soreness but patients will still be uncomfortable.
In addition, recovering patients also need to stop any physical activity beyond walking for around 7 days following the liposuction. They can only resume sports activities after a month or so of recovery. Some people may experience inflammation for a number of months, but the swelling will subside eventually so it is nothing to be alarmed about.
Benefits of vaser lipo
As mentioned previously, vaser liposuction has a number of benefits relative to some of the other processes, such as those involving lasers. One of the more obvious is the shorter recuperation time of vaser liposuction when compared to traditional liposuction. In fact, the majority of the individuals that have vaser liposuction can go back to regular routines in a few days. This newer method also significantly cuts down on the swelling and bruising, which means patients need not consume so much pain reduction mediation.
