If you are a family that home schools, you may want to have one or more map of the world poster available. These can be displayed in any room. There are many different projections each one gives a different perspective. They can be hung on the bulletin boards or placed in frames. These posters are decorative and informative.
Projection indicates the method of showing a spherical shape as a plane. Map perspective generally affects what information is emphasized. The Winkle Triple projection makes a sphere on a flat surface with limited distortion to land masses. This type of map is good for depicting information on vegetation, land use, and population density. The Mercator projection is often used as a political map. The disadvantage of this map is that the land sizes are distorted. The landforms near the equator appear proportionally smaller than the ones near the north and south poles. These are available with the Americas centered or Pacific Ocean centered. Both can be made to show all of the continents and their geographical relationships. The Up-side down map shows Antarctica at the top of the page. The labels are right side up. Mollweide projections are in an elliptical projection. This type of map is great for demonstrating lines of longitude and latitude. There are even antique world projection maps. These tend to have multiple circles depicting different views of earth. Often these maps are made in Dutch or Spanish designs common in the 17th century. There are even more projections and perspectives available.

The world is separated by oceans, nationalities, and governments. The world is connected by land use, population, and vegetation. All of these things can be depicted on a map.
