8 Items That Make Parenting Easier
There are a lot of baby items designed to make life a little easier for parents, especially for new parents. Things can get overwhelming, and a few devices, toys and tricks can really make the difference. Below are 8 top picks to save parents’ backs, arms, legs, feet and sanity.
1. Bumbo
This little foam seat was designed to have your baby sitting upright before they can do so on their own. The Bumbo is convenient because it gives you a break from holding your baby upright constantly. With the tray, baby can enjoy little toys to play with. Just don’t use it before your baby can hold their head up on their own.
2. Baby Swings
What would we have done without our swing in those first 6 months. This helped get our daughter to sleep on many occasions. At the least, it helped calm her. At best, if gave my back, legs and arms a break.
3. Baby Bouncers
Working on the same principle as the swings–movement and vibration–a baby bouncer can also be a parent saver. Sometimes you need to let someone–or something–else take the reigns for a bit.
4. Washpod Bath Tub
The Washpod, by Lionheart, is a fantastic little bathtub for your infant, up to about 6 months old (depending on size). It’s kind of like a glorified bucket that holds baby comfortably in place while you wash them. It’s super-easy to use, and really keeps baby in an upright position. It makes bath time fun, and the little ones look so cute in them.
5. Potty Pail (for cloth diaper users)
The potty pail makes messy diaper clean-ups so much easier. It comes with a sprayer that easily hooks up to your toilet (takes 15 minutes or so to assemble). The other part is a bucket that is fitted to the toilet. The bucket has a hole at the bottom, and two hooks. You can hang the poopy diaper on a hook, spray, and the bucket keeps the spray and mess inside, then draining into the toilet. Simple.
6. Baby Carriers
Baby carriers, like the Ergo, are so convenient, and becoming more and more popular. While baby-wearing is centuries old, carriers like the Ergo and Baby Bjorn have made it really easy to wear baby and keep parents hands-free. Baby wearing is also really good for the baby, as it fosters warmth and comfort, but also let’s them be a part of the action. Great learning takes place in those carriers.
7. Bath Caddy
This is a basic and simple item to hold all of baby’s bath stuff. Preferably, get one that attaches or sits across the tub, and can just stay there 24/7.
8. Remote Control Lightswitch
I don’t know how many parents are hip to these. A piece plugs in the wall, and you plug a lamp into that. Then you can turn the light on and off with a remote. This is great, especially if you co-sleep. You can turn the light on without having to get out of bed.
