Today many people are trying to save money however they can. Camping offers an inexpensive option that allows people to have a vacation without costing an arm and a leg. However, your relaxing camping trip can be more of a nightmare if you don’t get the proper camping tent. Here are a couple of things you need to know before you purchase a tent.
Few will argue that tents are the most important thing you can bring with you camping. While it can be tempting to buy a tent just because it is inexpensive this can backfire. There are cheap tents that can do all you want it to but it takes some sorting out.
First look for a tent that is equipped to withstand the weather. This will include a rain fly that encompasses the entire tent, lots of windows for proper ventilation, a bath tub style floor and in some cases a footprint that goes underneath the tent. Also, check to see if the seams are sealed well and you may even want to purchase some seam sealer that you can apply yourself as an extra protection from leaks.
Next, make sure you get the right size tents this applies both to the amount of people it can sleep and it’s weight. Backpackers or anyone who has to hike a little with their tent are going to want as light of a tent as possible. Really sit down and consider how many people will be sleeping in the tent and what you are going to want to have in the tent with you. Make sure you go with a tent that is a little bigger than you think you need especially if you aren’t backpacking. For example, if you have 5 people you should consider a 6 man tent.
You can definitely find tents that are affordable for your budget just make sure they are lightweight if you plan to hike in with it, it is equipped for the weather and that it is the right size for your group.
